Background |
Born in the Stonehollow Mines of Ardana in 2343, Wryn grew up in the final years of the Troglyte caste system. Her early life was defined by labor in the filtration tunnels, ore sorting, and environmental maintenance in hazardous subterranean conditions. After Federation-mediated reforms, she became part of the first generation of Troglytes permitted access to formal education and off-world opportunities. Wryn spent her twenties and thirties working as a civilian environmental technician on Ardana and, later, on a Federation mining outpost. Her skill with confined-space repairs and biofiltration systems earned her quiet respect. When a Starfleet engineering team visiting the outpost recognized her aptitude, she was recommended for the Starfleet Technical Services program. She enlisted at the age of 38 and completed training in environmental systems, waste reclamation, and damage control. Her instructors noted her exceptional ability to detect system anomalies by sound and vibration alone. Wryn served aboard two small Starfleet vessels before being assigned to the Nova-class USS Vanguard in 2388.
